Nogales High School opened
its doors in 1962 and serves the cities of Walnut, West
Covina, city of industry, and La Puente. It is one of two
comprehensive high schools in the Rowland Unified School
District. Nogales offers a wide variety of college
preparatory, general education, and vocational courses.
Nogales students prepare for their post-secondary goals
through outstanding academic and extra-curricular pursuits.
Our "Mission," is "To inspire and educate
individuals to realize their dreams and fulfill their
responsibilities to society. We proudly join the parents and
community in preparing each generation to meet the
challenges of today and tomorrow.
The instrumental program at
Nogales High School forms a vital and important part of the
total high school experience. This group represents a large,
colorful, visible, and highly disciplined segment of the
school. School life, and many of the programs and traditions
of the school, would seem dull without this presence. Our
appearances at sporting events, concerts, parades, contests,
festivals, as well as community events, add a great deal of
color and life to the community.
The emphasis of the NNRHS
music program is on musicianship, and pride of
accomplishment, followed closely by citizenship, tradition,
morale, spirit, integrity, pride, maturity, and commitment.
It is the pride of a job well done and the accomplishments
achieved that make the sacrifices worthwhile. It is the long
lasting friendships and the life experiences that will never
be forgotten. By learning how to manage time and keep focus
on the big picture students are able to have highly
successful band careers while still maintaining a high
scholastic standing. The success of the organization will
lead to the success of the individual and vice versa.
